TextWise is excited to announce that we’re making significant improvements to the SemanticHacker API by adding more powerful features for developers. Some of the improvements coming soon include:

Improved Scalability and Redundancy

The update will include a large jump in scalability and redundancy and accept larger volumes of transactions.

Improved Functionality

The update will include a significant increase in available capabilities including:

1.      An API for Tagging

The tagging API will allow users to systematically tag content with top dimensions created from Semantic Signatures®. There are two types of tags:

Concepts: The top n single word or phrase tags for a given piece of input text or Web page.

Categories: The categorization of the input text or Web page based on the ODP categorization scheme.

2.      An API for Content Matching

The matching API will allow users to match against our indexes of current News, Blogs, Videos, and Photos, as well as Wikipedia entries.

3.      Improvements to the Signatures API

The signatures API will be extended to support various text extraction options and multiple semantic dictionary choices.

4.      Improved Reporting

The reporting will include graphical representations of usage patterns.

A Downloadable Content Widget

Developers (and bloggers or publishers) can install a widget on any web or blog page and see relevant results across a number of sources including blog, news and Wikipedia articles and YouTube videos.

New Demo

We’re also launching a more robust live demonstration of our API technology. We’ll replace the current Wikipedia demo with this demo on the homepage of SemanticHacker.com.

Requirements

The update will require developers using the current API to change URL to call the API and adjust their code. We will support the old API for a limited time – the exact cutover date will be announced in December so you can plan accordingly.

More details and release dates coming soon!
