Semantic Search, SEO and Serendipity

Gaming search for better placement is harder with semantic search. There are some key changes that need to happen to place higher in search engine results now. David Amerland in an August Forbes Tech column Search is Dead… Long Live Search! describes some of the necessary steps your business needs to take to continue to place well in search results.  What do you think, do accurate search results delivered by a great semantic search engine eliminate serendipitous purchasing? Or do they (finally) position the user to quickly buy what s/he was searching for in the first place?
